Protest at Iranian talk in Dublin

Ebrahim Rahimpour, the Iranian Ambassador to Ireland (June 16th), states that the Iranians who protested at a meeting addressed by the Iranian foreign minister in Dublin did so “with the purpose of gaining refugee status in Ireland”.
Mr Rahimpour could not have known the status or the motives of the protesters beyond the public statements which they made and therefore his statement is without substance.

Dublin Port trade rises in April

Trading activity at Dublin Port rose for the fifth month in a row in April, new figures showed today.
Dublin Port Company said throughput rose 5.4 per cent for the month compared to a year earlier to 2.33 million tonnes. Growth was driven by exports, which were up 13.5 per cent on April last year at 940,886 million tonnes, and imports were up 0.6 per cent to 1.39 million tonnes.
Manchester United to play friendly in Dublin

Manchester United will play a pre-season friendly match against an Airtricity League XI on Wednesday 4 August at the Aviva stadium in Dublin, it has been confirmed.
Manager Alex Ferguson says he is “really looking forward to going back to Dublin” for the first time since 2002 for a friendly match with Shelbourne, which United won 5-0. More >
Dublin airport’s new terminal to starts in October

Travellers catching flights to Dublin later this year will be among the first to experience a new terminal at the city’s international airport.
The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) announced that the facility is scheduled to host its first passengers in October as part of a testing process.
Dublin office vacancies fall but still high

Property consulting group CB Richard Ellis has said vacancies in Dublin’s office market fell in the first three months of this year for the first time in two years.
CBRE said take-up of office space continued to rise, while the amount of new space coming on to the market was limited.
